We are a very active, lively and friendly group run by a committee of parents for members and their families. We aim to provide a mixture of social, fundraising and educational events for both children and parents.
As well as organising regular informal get-togethers for parents and children in members' homes, our branch activities in the past have included:

• dads & kids fun sessions
• picnics
• pub quizzes
• trips to the local Fire and Police Stations
• walks in the woods
• Easter Egg hunts

and of course our popular twice-yearly Nearly New Sales.

We have an excellent quarterly branch newsletter, with articles on all kinds of interesting issues, such as:

• travel
• shopping
• food
• childcare options

all from a parent's viewpoint. The newsletter also contains a wealth of information on local contacts and events, including a pull-out 'diary dates' section indicating all the local NCT events for the quarter.

We can offer Antenatal Classes run by our own antenatal teacher, also Breastfeeding and Postnatal Support .
Our branch also holds information evenings for parents, with guest speakers discussing wide ranging topical issues.

About the NCT across the UK
The NCT wants all parents to have an experience of pregnancy, birth and early parenthood that enriches their lives and gives them confidence in being a parent.

We offer information and support in pregnancy, childbirth and early parenthood to all parents to give them the opportunity to make informed decisions.
We also campaign for improved maternity care and better services and facilities for all new parents.
The NCT support network includes antenatal teachers, breastfeeding counsellors, postnatal supporters, a shared experiences register, breastpump and TENS hire and maternity and bra sales.
Our antenatal teachers, breastfeeding counsellors and postnatal leaders undergo a thorough training with the NCT although they are not required to be medically qualified. All teachers, counsellors and leaders are expected to keep up to date with the latest developments in maternity care and must register with us every year.
Their role is to offer support, information, practical skills and resources to help parents make informed choices for themselves and their babies. They do not offer medical advice and parents are asked to take any questions about the medical care of mother and baby to their midwife, health visitor or doctor.
We try to make sure that our services activities and membership are fully accessible to everyone.
